This is the second time I heard excuses from my college, it is about a design proposal that about to get build. He blame the Client because Client don't want to realise his idea because it is too much for the condition.
don't call yourself an architect or a designer, if you can only generate great idea that so called avant garde and no one manage to build it or technically it is impossible... just call your self a 'concept-or'... or may be a "design wanker"(D-wanker) is the best fit for this condition..
many of the designer is a D-wanker, they think about a far-fetch idea without any intention to really realize it. and they think they are great...
I remember Ron Arad says that " Idea is Cheap ! ", it really surprising at that moment.. (because I believe that not everyone can generate good idea) but now I understand that "Idea"... without capability to realize it ,... it really is "cheap !"
You can talk sh*t about it, how it will change the world...or for ideal world and bla bla bla.
Honestly It will end up just on your sketchbook, paper, or even on rubbish bin.
in fact, even a 5 years child can have an idea of 'a city in the sky' but that don't make him an architect.
A good designer and architect is the one that capable to realize their idea. know the right idea for the right situation and place. That doesn't mean you have to play 'save' but on contrary you have to keep testing your idea by knowing what you have (in terms of technology and capability around the idea) will it be possible ?! if it is possible, will it be right ?! and don't make any excuses !!
This Blog serve as my Design Diary. Contain everything that caught my attention, it don't have to be about design. Inspiration comes from everywhere.
